Washing the Vette

I would like to talk about cleaning the car, this is a bout a 3 hour deal. First I start inside. I vacuum the carpet then wipe down the dash and door panels. Wipe out the seats and then clean the windshield about once a month. I silicone the weatherstrip with armorall or some product that is similar. This is to lube the weather strip more than any thing else. I also apply leather treatment about once a month to the seats. This does not take long and it keeps the leather looking good. Then I open the hood and clean the parts of the clam shell that the soap brush will not reach. I use a clean damp rag, and then I close the hood. I use car wash soap and a very soft brush. I open the hood again and raise the head lights if I have used them in the last week. I close the hood again and make sure every thing is rinsed real well. I dry the car with a micro fiber towel. I get out the window cleaner and clean and polish the outside of the cars glass for a very clean and shiny look. I clean the wheels with wheel cleaner first then I go back over them with window cleaner since they are chrome.Cleaning them again makes for a very nice mirror reflextion.I apply tire shine. Once a month I wax the wheels and the car. Now without waxing this is about a 2 to 3 hour job depending on how hard I am working at it.When waxing I apply two thin coats, this is about a 6 hour job. Here's the great news, I do not think about work, bills or any thing else but what I am doing. It is a nice way to relax and chill out.if you think that spending this much time on a car is crazy, then you just don't get it. But think of all the time you spend a week watching crapovison or reading magazines or working for someone else to get them rich. When it comes time to clean the car, none of this crap matters. So, to me this is almost just as good as driving the car. The vette has helped me more than a shrink could have and will probably cost me less over time.
